Training Provider Registry (TPR)

The Training Provider Registry (TPR) is a database maintained by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) that lists all of the institutions that are authorized to offer Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) programs. The TPR is designed to help individuals who want to operate large commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) find an ELDT provider that meets the FMCSA's standards and guidelines.

To get ELDT certification, you must complete a special training program that meets the minimum standards set by the FMCSA. There are a number of ELDT training programs available, offered by schools, trucking companies, and other organizations.

Why do we need the TPR?

The FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) is the agency of the United States Department of Transportation that is responsible for regulating the safety of the commercial motor vehicle industry. FMCSA created TPR in February 2022 to ensure that all applicants for commercial driver's licenses receive adequate formal training in commercial driving. TPR provides a centralized resource for motor carriers and the general public to verify that commercial driver training programs meet FMCSA standards and requirements. The TPR is intended to improve the quality and effectiveness of commercial driver training and thus help reduce the number of accidents and injuries involving commercial vehicles.
